Ana Cynthia
Gaitan
July 14, 1984 – October 26, 2025
With great difficulty, we mourn the loss of our beloved Ana Cynthia Gaitan. To everyone outside of her family, she was known as Ana, but to her close relatives she was "Cynthia," or "Princesa." Ana Cynthia was born on July 14, 1984, in Managua, Nicaragua. She moved to Key West with her family when she was only 5 years old. Ana Cynthia was a fresh water conch. She lived in Key West until the early 2000s when she relocated to Stock Island and lived there since. Known for her sharp wit, contagious laugh, and poker face, Ana Cynthia leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication to her community and family. Having graduated from Key West High School in 2002, she went on to study at Florida Keys Community College. She worked briefly for the Key West Library back in the late 2000s, but unfortunately, she had to leave this position because of her health. Being the tough cookie she was, Ana Cynthia did not let this stop her from fulfilling her dream of building a family and having children. In 2012, the love of her life, Destini Nesbit was born. From that moment on, she and her daughter were inseparable. As the saying in Spanish goes, Destini became "la niña of her eyes."Unfortunately, Ana Cynthia is no longer with us, but she is survived by Destini, her mother Martha, her brother Zacarias, her sister Erika, and the rest of her close family and friends who are now feeling her abrupt, unexpected and crushing departure. We welcome friends and family to join us in memory of our beloved Ana Cynthia. This is how we want to remember her… as la niña of our eyes.
