Bryan Hamilton Bruner died suddenly of natural causes at his home in Key West, Florida on November 30, 2024.  He was born on October 1, 1959, in Evansville, Indiana, to William T. Scott, Jr and Constance L. Risley Scott.  His parents divorced and he was reared by his mother and stepfather, Benjamin Bruner, Sr., who adopted him.

Bryan graduated from Paoli High School in 1977, and served in the United States Marine Corps.  After his discharge, he joined his family in Merritt Island, Florida, where they had relocated.  There he met and married Robin Pappas.  They were later divorced, but their union produced a son, Bryan Louis Bruner.

In 2005, Bryan and his son went to Key West to work on a construction project.  While there, Bryan fell in love with the island and with Vikki Katzakian and lived there until his recent death.  He loved the climate, the people and the animals of the island and cared especilly for its feral cats, which he fed and captured to be neutered and released. Both Bryan and Vikki have worked at the Bull & Whistle Bar and Liquor store for many years in Key West.

Bryan is survived by his son, Bryan Louis Bruner of Ludington, Michigan, his long term partner, Vikki Katzakian of Key West, his mother, Constance Bruner of Oklahoma City, OK, sister Sylvia Adair of Germantown, WI, and Stephanie Shearer of Tuttle, OK, brothers Michael Bruner, of Pompano Beach, FL, Thomas Bruner of Merritt Island, FL, sister, Bridget Smith of Northport, FL.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on January 7, 2025 at the Dean-Lopez Funeral Home 418 Simonton Street Key West, FL.  In lieu of flowers, Vikki and the family request that donations be made to SPCA, 5711 College Road, Key West, FL 33040
