Obituary

Evagelia "Litza" Samaha passed away peacefully at her home on September 3rd, 2025 at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ekaterini and Apostolos Karydis, and by her beloved husband, Fouad Samaha.

She is survived by her sister, Panagiota  [Pitza], her sons Charles (Emily) Samaha and Ahmed (Kathy) Samaha, her cherished grandchildren Ana, Ali, Drew (Caroline), and Tucker, her former daughter-in-law Deanna, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Born on June 10, 1941, in Tripi, Greece, Litza came to Canada as a teenager. It was in Montreal that she met and fell in love with Fouad. Together, they built a beautiful life, moving with their young son Charles to Key West in 1968, where they owned and operated the Santa Maria Hotel and the Queen's Table Dining Room for more than 30 years and raised their two sons

Litza was known for her love of gardening, especially her orchids, her talent for cooking unforgettable meals, and the joy she found in caring for her grandchildren. She was a strong, generous woman who loved deeply and passionately.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jerome Covington for his years of exceptional care and friendship, and to Ms. Lara Escobar for her compassion and support in Litza's final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to MARC House of Key West, FL, or the Key West Garden Club in Litza's honor. A loyal friend and a giving spirit, Litza always sought to help those in need. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
