Retired CPA Guy Anthony "Tony" Willis passed away peacefully at his home in Key West, Florida on Feb. 9, 2024, at the age of 76, after battling vascular dementia for more than five years, with family at his side.
Tony was born a twin Sept. 4, 1947, in Lexington, Kentucky to William Tony Willis and Juanita Gray Willis. The family moved to Tifton, Georgia, where Tony grew up and graduated from Tift County High School in 1965. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College two years before moving to Athens, Georgia to attend the University of Georgia, where he graduated in 1969, with a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance. He earned his CPA credential soon thereafter.
After living and working in Atlanta, Georgia, for several years, he moved to Key West in 1979, and was a partner in the CPA firms of Parks and Niles, CPA; Niles, Willis, & Moore, CPA; and most recently Willis & Blackwell, CPA, from which he retired in 2020. He was also a licensed Florida Realtor, and a member of American Institute of CPAs, Florida Institute of CPAs, Georgia Institute of CPAs, and Key West Realtors Association. When not working, he spent his time scuba diving, fishing and playing golf.
Tony was preceded in death by both of his parents, and his wife of 28 years, Kim Sikes Willis, who passed in 2012 in Key West.
He is survived by his daughter, Marti Willis Watt ,who currently resides in Key West ,and his granddaughter, Madison Leigh Watt of Denver, Colorado; his twin brother William Thomas "Tom" Willis and wife Janet Eason Willis, of St. Simons Island, Georgia; niece Jennifer Nichols and husband, Bobby of Wentzville, Missouri; nephew Tommy Willis, wife Samantha, and great-niece Lillianne of Lexington, Kentucky; cousin Judy Slack of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and close friend Wendy Holifield of Key West.
Services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Key West at a date to be determined, and condolences can be made through Dean Lopez Funeral Home in Key West.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Paul's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, in honor of both Tony and Kim.
