Iluminada “Nana” Rivas Tapia, 83 of Key West, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026. She was born on December 6, 1942 in Arcos de Canasi, Cuba, to Fermin Sr. & Josefina Rivas Tapia. Nana is survived by her son Luis Galvan, his wife Debbie Galvan of Key West, FloridaShe is preceded in death by her parents, Fermin Tapia, Sr. and Josefina Rivas Tapia, Sister Zenaida Tapia Ordovas (deceased) and Fermin (Lulu) Tapia. Jr. (deceased) Left to cherish her memory are her son Luis Galvan, daughter in law Debbie Galvan. Brother Ricardo Tapia (Caridad) children and family Richard Tapia(Laura), Richard & Victoria. Roland Tapia, Adrian and Jake of Miami, Florida Sohira Sarmiento of Orlando, FL. Nephews & Nieces: Rigoberto (Francesca- Gage) of Key West, Fl and Rigo III (Karisa), Rigo IV, AJ and Kendall Contreras of Pensacola, Fl. Isabel Argetsinger (Greg), Hannah Abdo (Michael) and Nathan Argetsinger of West Little Rock, Arkansas . Neice Barbara (Robert) Crawford children Jose & Iris, Neice Jessica Monal children Alexander and Robert, Terry O’Dell an awesome God-son, a blessing from God and a treasured part of our family. For more than 20+ years, Nana proudly owned and operated a home daycare, where she lovingly cared for generations of children. Through her compassion, patience, and dedication, she touched the lives of countless families, providing a safe, nurturing environment where children could learn, grow, and feel loved.Above all,Nana treasured her family. She is survived by her beloved son, Luis Galvan, and her devoted daughter-in-law, Debbie Galvan, who lovingly served as her caregiver alongside her son during her extended illness. Their unwavering love, compassion, and dedication brought her comfort and dignity. Nana will be remembered for her caring heart, unwavering dedication to others, and the lasting impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to had know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved and those cherished her.
