Janyce Thompson
Cunningham
November 28, 1936 – March 31, 2026
Janyce Thompson Cunningham, 89, of Cudjoe Key, Florida, passed away peacefully at
home on March 31, 2026.
Born in McDonough Georgia, she was a long time resident of Freehold NJ before
moving to the Florida Keys. An early retirement from the Federal Government allowed
Janyce and her husband George to travel the world enjoying the people, places and
culture of the countries that they visited. After a brief hiatus, Janyce went back to work
for the NJ County of Monmouth Surrogates Office, where she worked until her final
retirement.
Known for her sense of style and her fashion acumen, Janyce always presented to the
world the picture of sartorial elegance and flair, exuding the grace, manner and
temperament of a true Southern gentlewoman. She very much enjoyed hosting her
many intimate evenings, where the table was always set to perfection with food and
libations in abundance. Besides her penchant for shopping for the latest fashion
statement, her next favorite pastime was to sit in her sunroom drinking her coffee while
collecting her thoughts. Her wit, humor and grace will be dearly missed by all.
Janyce was preceded in death by her husband George Willard; son Willard Kyle;
daughter in law Wendy Joy Cunningham along with her parents Elton and Ruby
Thompson and brothers; Elton Jr., Robert Franklin and Hugh Garland.
She is survived by her children; George Kevin (John) Cunningham, Janyce Kayron
(James) Evans and Karl Thompson Cunningham; her grandchildren, Fallyn Allysa
Frank, Farrah Arielle Frank, Taylor Morgan (Dennis) Buckley and Karl Tyler
Cunningham; her great grandchildren Loretta and Jolene Buckley along with numerous
nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Arrangements are private, however any donation in her name to the charity of your
choice would be greatly appreciated.
