Jorge Luis Fernandez, aged 61, of Key West, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Baptist Hospital in Miami, Florida. He was born on December 31, 1964, in Miami, Florida. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Carlos and Ramona Fernandez; his grandmother, Josefa P. Fernandez; his beloved daughter, Priscilla Fernandez; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Arsenio and Laudelina Morales; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eusebio, Alberto, Ernestina Morales; and Chopper and Roscoe Fernandez. He is survived by his loving wife, Francisca Fernandez; his caring son, Jorge Luis Fernandez Jr.; Chuy Fernandez; his daughter, Milagros A. Gartenmayer; Christina and April Ortiz; Emily M. Hernandez; his brothers and sisters, Caridad, Isaac, Carlos Jr. Fernandez; and many nieces and nephews, including David Hernandez, Peter Ortiz, Robert Garcia, Raymond A. Burney, Isaac Jr., and Brandon Fernandez. He is also survived by his beloved friends, Kenny and Alberta (Kika) Brogli, Ovilda Lake, Dave McCainn, and many others. Jorge, raised in California until the age of 18, spent the remainder of his life in Key West, where he met the love of his life, Francis. They married and built a remarkable family together. Some of his favorite activities included spending time on the open waters, swimming, fishing, or simply taking rides and spending time with his family. Jorge was a man of principle and integrity, believing that if one gave their word, they would always honor it. He consistently honored his word and expected the same in return. This was the code he lived by. Jorge would go out of his way to help anyone in need, regardless of whether he knew them. He would always stop what he was doing to assist others and never prioritized his own needs. If you knew him, you would know this to be true. He found happiness in simply sitting in a room watching game shows with his family, who meant the world to him. He always said that the most important thing to him was being in this room with them. He was content, and everything else happening outside did not matter because he had everything he needed right here.
