We regretfully announce the passing of Maria Zulema Fernandez Gonzalez of Key West, FL on September 1, 2023. Maria was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully.

Born in Key West, FL to Manuel & Olga Fernandez, Maria was described as a bundle of joy (and a touch of sass!) Maria was passionate about music and movies from an early age. In 1981, Maria met Enrique "Kiki" Gonzalez in Key West and fell in love. They went on to be married for nearly 40 years and had two children together.

Maria was a fiercely dedicated mother, raising two equally loyal and dedicated children. Maria was our biggest cheerleader and our constant supporter. Maria's role as "Abuela" was the one she most cherished. Her grandsons, Lucas Gonzalez and Aemon West, were her pride and joy. She showered them with love and stories creating a bond that will live on in their hearts forever. Our family would not be where it is today if we didn't have Maria as a mother and grandmother.

Maria was predeceased by her parents, Manuel & Olga Fernandez. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Kiki Gonzalez, two children, Marcos Gonzalez & Gabriella Gonzalez West, two grandchildren, Lucas Gonzalez & Aemon West, brother, Mario Cyrano Fernandez, son-in-law Zach West, and mother-in-law Silvia Gonzalez. Maria also leaves behind a large and close-knit extended family that includes cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends will gather 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday September 11th at the Dean-Lopez Funeral Home 418 Simonton Street Key West, FL
