Mary Ann Finlay, 83, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 in Miami, Florida. Mary Ann was born in Troy, NY to Raymond and Irma Tobin and raised from the age of 12 in Belford, NJ by her Aunt Margaret and Uncle Willard Annals. She was a graduate of Red Bank Catholic (1959) and a licensed dental assistant. She married her husband of 59 years, Douglas William Finlay Sr. (deceased, 2023) in 1963. Mary Ann and Doug lived with their family for 35 years in Brick, NJ where they ran their business Finlay Financial before moving to Key West, Florida in 2001. Mary Ann was rarely seen sitting still and was most happy sharing stories, usually about her children and grandchildren. Mary Ann was devoted to God in all parts of her life, a true reflection of His grace in her thoughts, words and actions. She was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Mary's by the Sea, Key West, a member and docent of Key West Woman's Club, a volunteer in too many groups to list and the social chair of La Brisa Condo Association where her parties will be remembered for years to come. She was an avid angler, where some may claim her tales were tall but she really did hook a 300lb mako in 1979. Mary Ann was a devoted fan of the NY Giants who could use her help with the man upstairs. Mary Ann is survived by her sons Douglas Jr., and Edward (Amanda Patterson Finlay), sister-in-law Annette Bukowski, grandchildren Matthew (Elizabeth Mandovil Finlay), Meaghan, Alexander (Kelly St. Marie), Michael (Madeleine Coulter Finlay) and Daniel, nieces and nephews William Layton Jr. (Laura), Ray Bukowski Jr. (Jennifer), Michelle Figueredo, Sally Stoneham (John) and a boatload of friends who were her family. A funeral mass will be held at St Elizabeth's, Avon-by-the-Sea, NJ on Monday 12/23 at 10:30 followed by a repast at Spring Lake Manor, Spring Lake Heights, NJ. A remembrance mass will be held at St Mary's by the Sea, Key West, Florida January 4, 2025 at 11:00 am, followed by a repast at Key West Women's Club, All are invited.
