Obituary

Noah Maxwell “Fishes” Crawford, 61, passed away peacefully at home on June 18, 2026. Born April 1, 1965, in New Haven, Connecticut, Noah grew up in South Florida where he spent much of his youth fishing with his father and working on classic Triumph sports cars. The two of them also raced Triumphs together, a shared passion that stayed with him throughout his life. Friends knew him as “Fishes,” a nickname that fit a lifelong angler. He spent as much time as he could on the water in the Florida Keys, whether offshore, on the flats, or just out with friends. Noah served four years in the U.S. Army as a communications specialist, with duty stations including Alaska, Haiti, and Honduras. He was awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter Qualification Badge, AR-15 Marksmanship Qualification Badge, and completed the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Course before receiving an honorable discharge. After his military service, he worked in telecommunications with Southern Bell and later AT&T, where he spent 26 years. He helped maintain the fiber-optic system supporting emergency 911 communications in the Lower Florida Keys. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his sense of humor, and the way he showed up for people when they needed help. Above all, he loved his family, his friends, and time on the water whether it was the Peggy Ann back in the day or more recently his 19-foot Mako with its distinctive red Bimini. Noah is survived by his wife of three years, Laurie Crawford, along with extended family, friends, and fellow fishermen. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 11, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Hurricane Hole in Key West. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monroe Association for ReMARCable Citizens (MARC) in Key West. Fair winds, tight lines and screaming drags.
