1:00 - 2:00 pm (Eastern time)
Philip Robert Hay, age 89, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of April 11, 2026. Philip was born in Detroit, MI, on March 25, 1937, the son of Robert and Violet Hay of Highland Park, MI. Philip was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth "Betty" Hay, who preceded him in death in May of 2022. Philip was also preceded by his youngest son Bradley.
Phil is survived by his sister Linda Golden; son Eric and his wife Christina; and his daughter Laura Hay. Phil adored his grandchildren—Ryan, Kayla, Jennifer, Lea, and Ethan (Paige)—as well as his great-granddaughter, Saylor.
Phil was a Christian first and remained deeply in love with his beautiful wife of 68 years right up to the day of his passing. A man of immense talent and diversity, Phil served as a Marine, a Lieutenant in the Sterling Heights, MI Police force, and a Federal Marshal in Key West. He was also a Master Diver, a licensed pilot, Captain of his own boat, a savvy builder and carpenter, and held a 3rd-degree Black Belt in Aikido. Phil and Betty loved to travel both internationally and across the U.S., and cherished time spent with their many friends and family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Keys Vineyard Church, located at 100 Country Road, Big Pine Key, FL 33043.
