Obituary

Robert "Bobby" Nickel passed away peacefully at his home in Key West, Florida on March 26, 2025 at the age of 65.  Bobby is survived by his wife of 34 years, Maryanne "Mare" Nickel of Key West; stepson Ricky Clay and life partner Jessica Ford-Clay of St. Lucie, Florida.  Grandchildren, Sincere Clay, KJ Clay and S'Nyiah Clay, all of St. Lucie, FL; Great Granddaughter Alani Clay of Fort Pierce; siblings Jim & Jill Nickel of Cocoa Beach, FL, Chas. Nickel, Dorthey Irwin, Natlie Minniz of New Jersey, Charles & Barbara Scally of Pennsylvania, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Bobby was born on February 2, 1960 in Philadelphia, PA to Charles and Jean Scally-Nickel.  He attended Pennsauken High School in New Jersey.  Shortly thereafter he and his best friend Art Bakley headed for Cocoa Beach, FL.  Bobby worked for Jack Baker's Lobster Shanty for the next 20 years as general manager of the establishment.  Bobby and family moved to  Key West in 1996.  Here he returned to his roots and love for building.  Working in several aspects of the construction trade.  He was a skilled carpenter and took pride in completing many historical restoration projects around the island.  Booby loved was an accomplished chef and enjoyed cooking for his friends and family.  Additionally, love for his Himalayan cats reigned supreme.  Ro-Ro and Freddie, Dali, Billy and Sassy had the best cat dad ever.  Music was also a big part of Bobby's life.  He could stum you a song or play you a tune on the piano. A celebration of life is schedule for Friday May 16th at  Dean-Lopez Chapel at 4:00 p.m.  Proceeding to the Galleon Tiki Bar for cocktails an sunset.
