Obituary

Samuel Richard Jacobson was born November 2, 1988, in San Antonio, Tolima Colombia, a village high in the Andes mountains.  He and his twin sister were lovingly welcomed by their adoptive parents, Kathy (Cadwell) Jacobson and Michael Jacobson, in December of 1989.  The family lived in South Florida briefly, then moved to Champlin, Minnesota.  Sammy loved sports and was an outstanding basketball and soccer player on school varsity teams for several years.  After moving to Key West he looked forward to playing golf with friends on his days off from work.  Sam was an active 4-H member, winning several awards and trips to state fair speech, entomology, and outdoor sports competitions.  He loved trips to the nature center and especially enjoyed fishing and exploring the shoreline of the large pond behind the Jacobson home.  He was active in the Bible Study Fellowship children's program.  He made his declaration of faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was baptized on Easter in 1997.  He was active in La Semana, a culture camp for Latin American children, where he made many friends.  He participated in a Latin dance troupe that performed yearly at the Festival of Nations and in church youth activities and summer camps throughout high school.  After graduating from Anoka High School in 2008, he moved to Key West, Florida, where he attended junior college.  He fell in love with the island life and lived there for the remainder of his life.  There he was known for his morning walks where he greeted his many friends and for his gregarious personality.  Sam had a big heart and was always available to help his friends and even those friends that he hadn't met.  He loved people and lived large in his extraverted fashion.  Sammy is survived by his parents and twin sister Leah, his three nieces Mariah, Monica, and Miranda, his nephew Marcus, and his grandmother Donna Jacobson, as well as his large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his grandfathers Richard Jacobson and Calvin Cadwell, and his grandmother Shirley Cadwell.  On Tuesday, April 2, 2025, Sam went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Sam was a gregarious, optimistic guy who always had a smile on his face.  He was very much loved and cherished.  Though he will be greatly missed, we are confident that he is now being welcomed home to heaven into the presence of Jesus and that he carried his smile and extraverted personality into eternity, where he brings joy to everyone he meets.
