It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Vasant Soni, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed member of our community. Vasant departed from this world on November 14th, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and dedication.

Born in 1947, Vasant embarked on a remarkable journey that began in his homeland of India. Driven by a thirst for knowledge, he moved to the United States to pursue a master's degree in chemistry. This marked the beginning of a life filled with diverse experiences and achievements.

Upon arriving in the U.S., Vasant first settled in California, where he began laying the foundation for his future successes. Later, he made his mark as a successful entrepreneur in New Jersey, owning a chain of grocery stores. His industrious spirit and keen business acumen were evident as he built a thriving enterprise that served the local community.

In pursuit of new opportunities, Vasant later made his home in Key West, Florida. Here, he continued his success by purchasing the El Rancho Motel, a landmark establishment that would later be transformed into the Silver Palms Inn. As a hotel owner, he not only contributed to the local economy but also became an integral part of the Key West hospitality community.

Vasant's journey, marked by resilience and a commitment to growth, extended beyond his professional endeavors. He was a dedicated family man, with his wife, Hansa Soni, and their children, Tejas and Ashish Soni, at the center of his world. Vasant's family circle expanded to include his daughters-in-law, Krishna and Iryna, who were welcomed with the same warmth and love that defined his familial relationships. His legacy also lives on through his cherished grandsons, Shaan and Devan, who were a source of joy and pride in his later years.

In addition to his immediate family, Vasant is survived by four sisters, who share in the grief of his loss and the celebration of his enduring impact.

Vasant's departure leaves a void that cannot be easily filled. However, we find solace in the memories we shared, the lessons he imparted, and the enduring impact he had on our lives. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the values he instilled in those around him.

A memorial service to celebrate Vasant Soni's life will be held this Saturday at 11 am at the Dean-Lopez Funeral Home, 418 Simonton Street, Key West, FL.
