Vincent F. Taporowski, known to his friends as Vince, passed away on June 4, 2026, just days after celebrating his 84th birthday. Vince was married to his one and only, Karen Taporowski, née Silver, for more than 62 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, adventure, hard work, friendship, and more stories than could ever be counted. He was the beloved father of Stacy Stahl and her husband, Karl, and Brett Taporowski and Alane. He was the proud grandfather of Amanda Rose Garcia and her husband, Daniel, Tylor Taporowski, and Bryce Taporowski, and the great-grandfather of Edward Vincent Garcia, who carries his name forward. Vince was a man of many stories and many trades. He and Karen built a successful floor covering store in Northern New Jersey before retiring to the fabulous Florida Keys in 1989. Retirement, however, was never really Vince’s style. He quickly became involved in the Key West community, serving for many years on the Tourist Development Council and later building a successful career as a Realtor. Known by many as “The Condo King,” Vince brought personality, persistence, and unmistakable charm to everything he did. Even when he stepped back from full-time work, Vince never truly slowed down. He spent many years traveling as a world-class competition shooter and avid cruiser, collecting friends, memories, and stories wherever he went. Locally, Vince was known for his generosity, volunteerism, and deep commitment to community. He was a Rotarian for more than 50 years and was honored in 2014 with a Lifetime Membership Award from the Key West Business Guild. He was also a constant cheerleader for every endeavor his children were involved in, showing up with pride, encouragement, and the kind of support that made everyone feel a little stronger. Vince lived fully, loved fiercely, and left his mark on every room he entered. He will be remembered for his zest for life, his devotion to Karen and their family, his humor, his stories, his friendships, and his unwavering belief in showing up for the people and places he loved. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, at Dean-Lopez Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m., with services at 3:30 p.m. A toast and memorial will follow at 4:00 p.m. at The Gardens Hotel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vince’s memory to the Key West Business Guild, Key West Sunrise Rotary, or A Positive Step of Monroe County.
